Studio policies

Studio policies

The fine print, in plain English. If anything here is unclear, email us — we're a small studio and we'd rather have a real conversation than hide behind boilerplate.

What to wear & what to bring

Wear clothes you don't mind getting clay on — clay washes out of most fabrics but not all. Closed-toe shoes are safest. Long hair should be tied back. Everything else (clay, tools, aprons, glaze, firing) is included. You're welcome to bring water, snacks, or your own apron if you have one. If you have any allergies (we use silica-based glazes and sometimes natural materials), please let us know in advance.

Studio etiquette & safety

The studio is a shared space. A few asks: • Be kind to other students. Beginners are welcome at every class — no judgment. • Wash your hands after handling clay. Don't eat or drink at the wheels. • Power tools (slab roller, extruder, kiln) are instructor-only unless you've been trained. • If you're sick, please don't come in — email us and we'll work out a credit. • We can't accommodate unattended children in the studio. Family classes have a separate calendar.

Pickup of finished pieces

Pieces take 2–3 weeks to fire and glaze. We'll email when yours are ready. You have 60 days from the pickup-ready email to collect your work. After that, unclaimed pieces are donated or recycled. We don't charge a storage fee, but we don't have unlimited shelf space either. If you can't make it in person, we can ship for the cost of packaging + postage — email us.

Photography & social media

We sometimes photograph classes for our website and social media. If you'd rather not be photographed, just let your instructor know at the start of class — we'll respect that. You're welcome to take photos of your own work and the studio. We love when you tag us — @jaidasclayworks. Photos taken inside the studio shouldn't include other students' faces without their consent.

Accessibility

The studio is on the ground floor with step-free entry. Restrooms are wheelchair-accessible. Wheels and tables can be adjusted for seated work — let us know in advance if you'd like that set up. If you have a specific accommodation we haven't anticipated, please email hello@jaidasclayworks.com before booking. We'd much rather make it work than have you arrive to a surprise.

Privacy & your personal information

We collect only what we need to run the studio: your name, email, phone (if you give it), and a record of your bookings, payments, and any studio credit balance. That's it. • We use your email to send booking confirmations, reminders, and the occasional studio update. • Card details are handled by Square — we never see or store your card number. • We don't sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing. • You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account, by emailing hello@jaidasclayworks.com. Cookies on jaidasclayworks.com are functional only (signing you in, remembering your cart). We don't use third-party advertising trackers. If we ever change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll email everyone with an account at least 30 days before it takes effect.

Terms of service

By booking a class, subscribing to a membership, or creating an account on jaidasclayworks.com, you agree to these terms. Booking You're booking a seat for the person named on the booking. You may bring a friend instead of attending yourself by emailing us at least 24 hours in advance, but the seat itself is non-transferable to other dates without rebooking. Payment Prices are in US dollars and include applicable sales tax. Cards are charged at the time of booking. Memberships recur monthly until cancelled. Liability Pottery involves shared tools, kilns, and physical activity. Our instructors will keep you safe, but you participate at your own risk. The studio's liability is limited to the cost of your booking. Studio rights We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who behaves in a way that endangers or disrespects other students, instructors, or staff. Changes We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be emailed to account holders at least 30 days before they take effect.
