A Private Lesson with Jaida Two hours of one-on-one instruction with 100% of my attention. Whether you're brand new to pottery, a hobbyist looking to refine your skills, or an experienced ceramicist wanting to work through a specific challenge, private lessons are tailored entirely to your individual goals. Prior instruction or experience with Jaida is not required! Jaida specializes in wheel-thrown and carved ceramics, with additional experience in trimming and a variety of glazing techniques using commercial glazes. Lessons can be tailored to your current skill level, whether you're learning the fundamentals or working to refine more advanced techniques. What Can We Work On? Your lesson can be customized around the skills or techniques you'd like to learn or improve. Some examples include: - Improving throwing technique - Throwing larger forms and working with more clay (up to 8 lbs) - Throwing sectional pieces - Improving trimming technique - Learning and/or improving carving techniques - Troubleshooting specific issues with your work - Developing techniques to help you achieve a particular form or result These are just examples—if there's a specific skill or project you'd like to focus on, let me know! We'll discuss your goals before booking to make sure the lesson is a good fit. What Isn't Offered Private lessons are focused on wheel throwing, trimming, carving, and glazing with commercial glazes. At this time, Jaida does not offer private instruction for hand-building, slip casting, or mixing custom/homemade glazes. How It Works If you're interested in a private lesson, please fill out the form below with your contact information, availability, and a detailed description of what you'd like to focus on during your session. Jaida will reach out to discuss your goals, determine what will work best for your lesson, and confirm a date. Materials Materials included will vary depending on the focus of your session. Generally, clay and commercial glazes needed for your lesson are included in the base price. Clay provided for the lesson is intended for use during your scheduled session and does not necessarily include clay to take home afterward. Firing services and any additional materials, supplies, or studio services will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the focus of your lesson. Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed upon before booking. A Note About the Studio Although your lesson is one-on-one and your instruction time is dedicated entirely to you, there may be other studio members working in the space during your session. Their presence will not interfere with your lesson or take away from the individual attention and guidance you receive from Jaida. Pricing Private lessons start at $150 for a minimum of 2 hours. Longer sessions may be available on a case-by-case basis depending on the goals and scope of the lesson. Any additional time or materials will be discussed prior to booking. Private Lesson Cancellation & Refund Policy Private lessons are scheduled individually and reserved specifically for you. Because each lesson requires setting aside dedicated studio time, cancellations and rescheduling are subject to the following policy: - 48+ hours before your scheduled lesson: You may cancel for a 100% studio credit or reschedule your lesson once at no additional charge. Any additional rescheduling will be subject to availability and may incur an additional fee. - 24–48 hours before your scheduled lesson: Cancellations are eligible for a 50% studio credit. Rescheduling may be available depending on studio availability and may incur an additional fee. - Less than 24 hours before your scheduled lesson: Cancellations and rescheduling requests are non-refundable and will not receive studio credit. - No-shows: Failure to attend your scheduled lesson without prior notice will be considered a cancellation and is non-refundable and will not receive studio credit. If an emergency or unusual circumstance arises, please reach out as soon as possible. Exceptions to this policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis at Jaida's discretion. If Jaida’s Clayworks needs to cancel or reschedule your lesson, you will be given the option to reschedule at no additional charge or receive a full studio credit. Late Arrivals Private lessons begin and end at the scheduled time. If you arrive late, your lesson will still end at the originally scheduled time, and the time missed due to a late arrival cannot be made up, refunded, or credited. If you anticipate being late, please let Jaida know as soon as possible. Exceptions may be considered for unusual circumstances at Jaida’s discretion.
